Is it possible to connect a Hdmi (computer) to USB slot to Dish DVR and record streaming content? Still an active dish account. Realize dish encrypts content, but if played back on DVR does it work?

You would need an HDMI splitter, ATSC modulator/encoder (such as the MUL-HDENC-C-100), attenuator pads, and some coax to go to the OTA input port on your 722. Doable, but expensive and totally not worth it. USB won't be involved.

The Hauppauge could easily record stuff coming out of the DVR. But for going into the DVR, as in the OP, you'd still need the ATSC Modulator. I think the question though is: Why does the OP want to do this? My guess is that he wanted to avoid buying any more devices. ie: was hoping that his DVR was a generic HD recorder.

It would be nice to be able to record (digital) video from Smart TVs in general (or even video viewed on a computer) I have a vintage DV(D)R, I was just looking at it and it only has a RCA video /audio input connections. (it has HDMI & Coax outputs only). My Wally box has RCA outputs I would assume they'd work with my DVDR unless DISH has write protected its content. (There are several stations on Cable now that write protect their broadcasts and my DVDR can't record them). I also have a Smart TV which seems to have no output connection (except for a Digital Optical output). If anyone knows of a obvious way to record from a Smart TV etc, please post. Thanks
