It may finally be time to say Good Bye

This has me puzzled since I've never had anything but owned boxes. Activating them on what's now called an "Outdoor" account was never an issue.
it was easy to buy boxes and put them on an outdoors acct!!! but it was never easy to buy boxes and put them under a 2 year with all of the promo's wheels and deals!!! i think it takes someone with more authority than the regular sales people!!! i dunno it puzzles me as well!!

Here's where I'm at.Called the 888-496-1260 number(Ironically I used to have the number in my signature on this forum) and had a pleasant conversation with George in Tulsa. He indeed was loyalty/retention.
Started out by saying"Oh jeez -you called a day too late for the promo!" When I explained the CSR I talked to yesterday refused to pass me up the chain he apologized .First thing he did was throw in 3 free months of multi sport(which I was fully prepared to pay full price for-just wanted it for NFL Red Zone) and an additional $30 credit.Told me to call back November 8th or 9th when the next promo is active.
So the can has been kicked down the road for now.

one should not have to lease boxes to get the promo's wheels and deals!!! that just puzzles me. unless the sales reps get commissions on the more junk they lease out 🤔. they have always bragged that one could own there own boxes!!!

we were always asked why we wanted to own our own boxes. we always told so we can take it apart and put an SSD into if we wanted. can't go destroying leased boxes... or if anything new is coming out we can just buy it and not have to wait to upgrade!!! the taking it apart seems to work the best. though i noticed some sales rep will tell you you can take apart leased box wich i highly doubt

I can't agree with you. I've had nothing but owned receivers for the past 15 years and I've been on some type of reduced pricing promotion ever since. I'm currently on my fourth consecutive 2 year contract where pricing is frozen during the contract.

I pay $78 all in for an owned Wally with four tuners and DVR capability and the Top 120 (see graphic below). In a couple of months I will call and try to renew the same deal. If I can't, I will probably drop DISH and just use my Tivo's.

I threw my hopper 3 in the waste bin when I dropped satellite.

But I would buy another one if they created a software system that supported most of the streaming services in a curated system where I could find things fast.

Would not want the satellite service but would be happy to pay a fee for the curating and fast response times.

Its a game of chicken, and here is how you do it.

First of all you call and say you want to cancel your service. Most providers these days will allow you to post date the cancellation. So lets say you call today on the 8th. You tell them you want to cancel your service on the 14th, which is in 6 days.

When they ask why you want to cancel, you simply tell them you got Directv, or are getting a bundle with the cable company with TV and internet and they are coming out in 6 days on the 14th,

Second of all do your research on what is available if you actually do switch to either DIRECTV or the local cable company.

So now the CSR in the cancellation department is going to try to keep you. Now that you got all the other information about who you say your switching to, the goal is to get them to match the offer to make you decide to stay.

Here is where the game of chicken comes in....

If you do not like the offer, you actually go through with the post dated cancellation 6 days from now!

Now just make sure your cell phone is listed as the primary phone number on the account, a matter of fact this should be your first call. A matter of fact take all the other phone numbers off the account so only your cell phone is listed.

Now that you have post dated your cancellation, you answer every call to your cell phone for the next 6 days.

Eventually it will be a CSR from retention who will make an additional offer, possibly better to keep your service.

If nobody calls you in 6 days, call back and say you had to reschedule your appointment with DIRECTV or whoever and want to move the disconnect date another 5 days into the future.

If you chicken out, and nobody calls you, you can always call back and cancel the pending disconnect, You can also try to negotiate a discount again saying the other provider doesn't have so and so channel in your package and you would consider staying if the price was right.

I have done this with Directv many times, and it works almost every time,

AGREE!!! though direct asked us what we would be gaining by going to dish is. first words out of my mouth was hopper 3 :biggrin. ofcourse i had to explain what that was. then the rep asked if we would be back. i was like oh hell no worst customer service ever!!! if it went the other way around i am sure dish would use the hopper three against you LOL. i'm surprized they haven't called e-mailed or snail mailed us like a desperate ex trying to win us back!!!

I called in last year the csr who I could not understand would not give me the time of day and basically said cancel I don't care. I called the number that was posted above and spoke with a lovely person who was from England and moved here . I believe she was from Virginia. She was so nice and generous. That's why I am still with dish you get the bad and the good. They should give you a very nice discount for a 1 year contract. I will be calling again in January hopefully I talk with her again.
I agree!!! If broadcasters can negotiate for better rates why can't consumers 🤔

I think this might be last time I discount the account. would seem all these years I been told there is "no" contract and no terminations fee when I applied the $50 off for 12mo was lie for last 5+ years there been contracts according to loyalty.

have 2 year "contract" keep the bill 160.99 so long I keep up on the dishmovie packs 50% off... with $20month x how many months left termination fee, which I guess was always there seeing they been lying to me bout there no contract, but now that think about I always did have to do the phone "agree" me even when they said there was no contract and or they wavied it.

Gona see if turn out to be mistake or not do seeing parernts watch more streaming then anything, and I watch nothing but streaming channels on dish, sort of what I record, which most can t be watch off air

Though our internet is 49.99 for a 10 gig fiber connection for life. until they have a price hike. right now i know there upselling since it's a small company :biggrin ;). no need to play the rate game. they only offer 10 gig and 1 gig service
My ISP will let me go from 1 gig to 2 gig service for $5 more a month and I haven't jumped on it. Haven't found anything to max out the gig yet. While my Network is a 2.5 gig network, the only machines with 2 gig ethernet adapters are the NAS units so I can move files quickly. Everything else is gig or wifi. My wifi isnt too bad on most devices where I see over 700 meg down and up at most places in my house.

Do we need a 10 gig conn um no!!! but the price for it no one can beat it. the 10 gig service was all that had when we signed up!!! the one gig service is something new!!! they don't say how much that would be LOL figures :biggrin :wtf.. i do alot of uploading to youtubes the 10 gig makes it painless along backing the pc up to my NAZ i seen wifi speeds over a gig in my house most of the time it's as fast as the certain device will go... and i have multible devices even though some are ghost devices i have 6 pc's in my house. that's where higher bandwith might make sense. my home is fully automated...
