What Sat to use as TS for setup?

Hi, My longitude is 112.2 what TS Sat should i use ? 111 or 113 or something else??

I would use 113 since its closer.
If your receiver supports USALS, put in your latitude & longitude and have the motor move to 113 before aiming the dish. That .8 degree will make a big difference when you get the the end of the arc

With USALS, is it still better to start with a true south bird when installing or just any bird on the arc? My dish is currently fixed at Galaxy at 95W. If I install a motor with USALS, I plan to put in my coordinates and turn the motor to 95 and then adjust the bracket since my receiver has all the 95 channels scanned in. Will I be better off to start with some sat closer to my true south which is at 121W?

best to start at your true south but as long as you USALS the motor, you could start anywhere.

I've seen people have line of site issues with their true south but still get it to work just fine

Since your TS is 121, I would try that first. We usually only say try other satellites if there is no satellites nearby

Dosent it make a big difference using your TS Sat? If I start at 97 W my LNBF Rotation will be way off wont it?

When you use a motor you leave the LNB skew as zero, the motor "tilts" the dish to compensate for the skew.

I used to use 91 West (It is in the middle of my visible arc of 58 (Now 53) West to 123 West) as my "fake true South satellite" and never had a problem. (My real true South satellite is 118.8)

I cant seem to get mine right, I get the Sat dead set on my TS with strong signals using Usuals and the i try to switch sats to go to AMC4 101w and dish is way off in another direction. 140 W when it should be at 101W.

How do you know your motor is set dead on at 0 position? just by eyeball, mine has no numbers just an line pointing down that goes between 2 lines 1 inch apart, very easy to have motor 1 click off.

No Numbers? Mine does. But when you initially setup the receiver and input your long/lat for TS, it's supposed to set that up- which is 0*. Mine did it very well- every time I reset it. If it wasn't for the horrible play, my motorized system would be completely in place.

I'm ok with 10r, though, as i am sure this is where the SAT would be 99% of the time anyway. Just wish satelliteav would get back to me and let me know how they intend to fix this.

Example: AMC4 (101W) in California is approximately 134W compass reading, but in Florida the compass reading for AMC4 is 225W. Also, make sure that you enter your Longitude as a West not East and the Latitude as North not South.

Thanks Brian, I was just guessing 148 what is happening is the motor is going all the way to its west position 70% as far as motor will go. I will start all over and reset motor on roof, and see if it goes back to 0 position after receiver reset, mine has not done that so far like empric has said his does.

Sounds like the motor may have been reset when the pointer was not in the 0 (zero) position.

Manually drive the motor to the 0 (zero) position and insert a paper clip in the motor reset and hold until the LED turns solid Green.


Verify that the mounting post is PERFECTLY plumb. If it is not, the satellite arc will be difficult (if not impossible) to track.

Set the motor latitude setting to match your latitude. Set the dish elevation setting to the setting between 20 and 30 degrees as listed in the install manual for your latitude. Aim the motor so the arm is aimed approximately to magnetically corrected True South (This only need to be close). Set the LNBF rotation to the centered 12 o'clock position. The cable will be aimed straight down.

Factory Reset the receiver.

Select Satellite AMC4 / LNB type Universal 9750/10600/Motor USALS/ Enter your Logitude as WEST and Your Latitude as NORTH. Select GoTo the satellite position. Exit and save settings.

Select satellite AMC4, select TP 11822 H 5700 (or similar frequency), LNB Power ON. Motor should have moved to the correct calculated position. Slowly pan the motor left or right 10 or 15 degrees on either side of the calculated motor position. If no signal quality is detected, increase or decrease in one degree increments and repeat the panning process until the satellite is found.

Once the satellite is found, scan in a few channels to save the position.

Select satellite Galaxy25, TP 12177, Motor USALS, LNB type Universal 9750/10600, Power ON. Select GoTo satellite position. Exit and save changes.

Select satellite Galaxy25, TP 12177. You should have Signal Quality. Make sight left / right motor rotation on the post or elevation adjustment to the dish until the Signal Quality is peaked.

Repeat the above process for an Eastern satellite and a Western Satellite, making slight Panning Left/Right motor adjustments and slight Dish elevation adjustments to peak for each satellite until the motor tracks the arc perfectly.

I think this equipment is just poor Quality It does not respond to your directions, it still goes far west then locks up so you cant get it back east. goes right by signals that i want then i reset everything just to have it do it all over again. its the motor thats the problem here i beleive. I have tried it several time right as you described, and several times as Iceberg as said with motor just going off to far west then complete lock up. First problem i had was i could not get signals at all after 8 hours i find it was a subpar RG6 cable that came included in your instalation package, now my next problem must be user error?

Now go back and reset it to USALS. I don't have a Visionsat, so I can not help you where these settings are.

That option is not in menu only edit opton i can find is for TP thats all that can be edited
