On rare occasions I have read about being able to use a card with a receiver it did not come with, but like I said, it is rare.

impossible to do. depends on what kind of reciever. new recievers such as D10, D11, D12 R15, H20, H21, H22, H23, HR20, HR21, HR22s will not.

im assuming you want to take a card and go to another reciever and plug it in?


EVERY directv reciever is married to that SN to match the Card. without authorizations from DIRECTV will NOT work.

if you had a bad card. they will re-marry a new card, which would be sent out to you VIA mail, for that SN of the reciever you are replacing the card for. Other than that, they or you cant insert another card that isnt for that reciever.

Irregardless of what SDDTVTECH babbled the Access card dept. may be able to remarry a card that is already on your account to another receiver you are adding to your account. There are narrow restrictions that must apply so don't expect that it can be done instead of paying $20 for a new card. It is possible under the right circumstances.

that ASSUMING its a reciever on HIS account and not another account. othewise its impossible to do. BUT why do that? then youd still be STUCK with ONE reciever not having card... POINTLESS..

Uh no, NOT pointless - if you have an owned receiver that breaks, & you can get another inactive OWNED receiver that does NOT have an AC, you CAN remarry the card to it. The main benefit to this - this keeps you from having to start another commitment, since you are NOT activating a new card on your account. But boba is correct, as there are restrictions on what can/can't be done.

And don't tell me that it is impossible to do - 'cause I've done it for clients several times...(it does take a little work TO get it done, but I did it)

BTW, you DO know that you CAN remarry an AC card from any receiver, to a non-RID receiver yourself. Just put the card in the non-RID box, call the auto menu or go online, & do an refresh of your receivers, which WILL remarry that card again.
