Did U501 fix the issue with playing a program on an external hard drive or do you still get a black screen the first time you try?

always have to go thru the process twice to get ehd to play a recording very irritating

Well, DAMN. The last upgrade somehow fixed my issue of my EHD being missing from the DVR list every morning and requiring a reboot to get it back. Since the new update - every morning, my EHD is missing again, and I have to reboot at least once to get it back, I've even had it go missing again later in the day, which never happened before.

16 tuners and no more conflicts.

I HAD NO CONFLICTS before this CGUI! HWS1 rolled over to HWS2 when I ran out of timers. And I had none of these other issues.

I do not need 16 tuners. I also do not need the problems watching programs on my two ext HDs, which I gained with the new CUI on my HWS. It is a real PITA to have to enter the ext HD twice to watch each program. I can save a bunch of money by Bundling thru ATT/Direct. I am paying Cox $78 each month for internet and can get 150 channel tv and internet for $80 each month for the life of a two year contract.

Then why don't you go. You won't have any EHD problems over there.

Hopper3 has been a stable, fast and versatile DVR since I got mine with the free upgrade at the very beginning. A minor glitch with playing EHD recordings is pretty small potatoes compared to the conflict free Hopper3.

It is official: 501 screwed up my EHD connectivity again. For a long time my EHD would disappear every morning and it would take two or three software reboots or one or two red button reboots to get it back. Every Single Morning. Then we had an update (one or two ago) and I was ecstatic - my EHD was actually there in the DVR list again every morning? Well, most mornings. (BTW, problem with the EHD was with several different brands, externally powered desktop EHDs like the WD MyBook, EHDs plugged into a powered port, all variations - problem was there no matter what.)

Now, with the 501 update, my EHD is gone again. Every morning. Takes 2 or 3 software reboots to get it back, sometimes it requires one or two red button hardware reboots.

Ughhhhhhh.

neither did I..........now my timers based on "search" do not function either.............not too mention the slowness now
