Just completed more testing. Readings did not change much. Next technician visit will test both DPP44 switches receiver ports 2, 3, and 4.
Following is readings for satellite 118, transponder 1:

Left Duo Node current readings;
Left host: tuner 1-57, tuner 2-56, tuner 3-38
Right host: tuner 1-57, tuner 2-56, tuner 3-56

Installed new Left Duo Node, readings;
Left host: tuner 1-57, tuner 2-57, tuner 3-41
Right host: tuner 1-57, tuner 2-56, tuner 3-56

Installed new left DPP44 switch & power inserter. Right DPP44 switch trunk coax is disconnected, readings;
Left host: tuner 1-55, tuner 2-57, tuner 3-43
Right host: tuner 1-57, tuner 2-57, tuner 3-57

Connected left DPP44 switch trunk coax to right DPP44 switch, readings;
Left Duo Node
Left host: tuner 1-57, tuner 2-57, tuner 3-45
Right host: tuner 1-57, tuner 2-57, tuner 3-57
Right Duo Node
Left host: tuner 1-57, tuner 2-57, tuner 3-37
Right host: tuner 1-58, tuner 2-58, tuner 3-57

Bah. I'm guessing the switches are fine and this is some dumb glitch or something. Testing the switches would be the last step I guess. I bet they'll be fine.

Yep, I would say it is a glitch too. I wish someone else that has 118 too check and see what their readings are.

Dish technician visit was today. Here is what he did. Checked 118, xponder 1, turner 3 signal strength from both Hoppers that are attached to both Duo Nodes left host ports. The readings were checked from the Hopper's Send Status menu. One Hopper reading was 41 and the other was 40. Tuner 1 and 2 for both Hoppers read around the mid 50s. For the two Hoppers attached to the Duo Nodes right host ports, all three tuners read in the mid 50s for both Hoppers. He then changed all four LNBs, changed the RG-6 connectors at the LNBs, and then did a peak adjustment with his Super Buddy tester at the dish. 118 signal reading was 57. After we did a check switch for all four Hoppers we took another reading at the Hoppers Send Status menu. There basically was no change for the Hoppers that are attached to the Duo Nodes left host port. The reading for 118, xponder 1, tuner 3 was 44 for one Hopper and the other Hopper was 39. All the readings for the two Hoppers attached to the right host were again in the mid 50s. Technician then took readings from the left DPP44 switch receiver ports. Port 2, 118, xponder 1 signal reading was 55, DBM -39. Port 3 was 55, DBM -39. Port 4 was 55, DBM -38.

So bottom line is the Dish technician does not know what is causing the low 118, xponder 1, tuner 3 readings for the two Hoppers that are attached to both Duo Nodes left host port and the Hoppers attached to the right host read good. The readings are good at the DPP44 switch but the Hoppers readings are low. The following has been changed: all four LNBs, both left and right DPP44 switches, and both Duo Nodes with no results. There is some kinda issue with the Duo Nodes left host port or the Hoppers. If the Super Buddy had the capability to read more than two tuners a reading could be taken at the Duo Nodes host ports to see what the three tuners are reading compared to the Hopper readings. It would be nice if Dish TV had their Super Buddy testers upgraded to have the capability to read more than two tuners at the Nodes.

Wow, I guess that pretty much covers every possible cause, it must be either a glitch or an inherent flaw... At least you don't have to worry anymore that something's wrong...

Yep, for sure. I doubt we will ever know what is causing the issue. I hope Dish at least someday upgrades their Super Buddy testers to have the capability to read more than two tuners. The manufacturer has an update available but no one wants it.

Tuner 3 uses the highest frequencies up to 3GHz on the RG6 from the node to the Hopper. If you haven't already I would swap the wires from the Hoppers from the left to the right host ports and see if anything changes.

Done that several times. The only thing that changes is the two Hoppers that were reading good would now read low and the two low reading Hoppers would read the higher reading. Other words it stays with the left host port. There is something going on with that left host port.

Yep, still works great. Just one of them things that isn't right especially when it doesn't make since. The thing that upsets me the most is why aren't the Super Buddys capable of reading tuner 3 from the node's host port!! Especially when the manufacturer has developed an update for the Super Buddy and no one is requesting it. If I was a Dish technician I would want the latest and greatest test equipment for troubleshooting a headache like this one.
