Just a brief aside. Since the remote controls for my GT Media V9 and V7S5X receivers interfere with each other as they transmit common codes, I just arrange to have one unit powered on and the other unit powered off. Then when I press the power button on either remote control, this turns one unit on and one unit off. This way I can use both receivers without unplugging one of them and I only want to use one receiver at a time anyway.

Ok guys, My 256 USB stick passed the test, while my old Samsung external USB hard drive won't play on the GTX Combo.

The playback was nice and smooth no problem at it all.

I preferred natural remote controls instead of universal remote control, because I prefer original control buttons layouts.

I do this as well, by using smart plugs. Then I can just tell Alexa to turn on/off the various receivers.

Any Bluetooth experts here? Thinking about picking up another GTX Combo, this one for KU, but not sure if the remotes would conflict since they're bluetooth and not IR?

They shouldn't, because they are paired to their respective receivers. So, most likely will have different codes when you pair them. Or if they do out of the box, you can RE-pair one of them.

The Seagate 320GB 2.5" SSD arrived today. Turned off the receiver, inserted the drive in the slot and the receiver saw it on reboot. Note: let the box format the drive as "External USB storage."

I was able to record raw video of all formats, including 4:2:2 and local OTA channels. The stock media players had some issues with a few of the files, so I installed VLC on the box, which plays all the videos just fine. It even plays back the 4:2:2 files.

Timeshift works great, recording is easy- push the red button on the remote and tell it how many minutes you want it to record.

You can copy/paste the recordings to a flash drive and play them on a PC as expected.

For anyone who wants to buy an internal SSD for the GTX Combo, this is the one I bought, and it is guaranteed to work (thanks to the Youtube guy who did all the testing).
