New Ku dish

In case anyone's interested. The C band dish is my hail damaged and partially functioning dish.

Hey, if it works........ I like the OTA setup, you can probably get Denver with that antenna.

Maybe I can get Denver on a good Tropo path. Denver's over 200 miles from here. But, a fellow ham that lives in Cheyenne picks up the Denver HD OTA channels but his antenna is about 150 feet above ground.

God was shooting it with large hail that day. The Ku dish was put up after the last 2 hail storms and it works great. Also got to play around with the Birdog with the Ku dish. I tuned up on W1 (AMC1) but I couldn't get better than 46% quality (no obstructions). Is this bird getting old? Other sats come booming in with 75% quality or better. I might be able to get a little better performance on the BUD by trying an alignment but I don't know if I want to waste my time. I have a new BUD dish laying in parts on the garage floor - afraid to put it together with all the hail we've had - not to mention the F1 tornado that touched down about 3 miles south of my house.

Sorry to hear about your system being damaged. What have you checked to see what the damage is. From what I see there shouldn't be too much damage and would check the LNB first. You have plenty of hardware there and must live in a distant area from your OTA (with the Analog antenna up), and one mask which is so high if the wrong cable breaks you could end up with your house in half after the tallest antenna falls through your house. For most areas you can get an antenna which connects to your house and will get HDTV if you have a new Flat Panel TV. The LNB may be the problem on your C band dish, or the adjustment may be off. Sounds like you live in Arkansas with the tornadoes, and hail storms which we have. I will be putting up a C band dish next and get a new receiver. Seriously, I would be worried about damage to my home from one of those antenna masks which could fall through your home if the wrong cable breaks.

Yes, it is getting old, but the polarization on it has been screwed up since the beginning. For some reason, it's 26 degrees off from where it should be. The end result is that if you have a motorized dish, you'll never be getting optimum signal from this satellite on Ku, and most likely will miss the S2 transponders entirely. (I've been able to receive them with an offset LNB skewed to the right angle, i.e., the loss due to not having the LNB at the focal point was less than the loss due to having the wrong polarization angle. Your mileage may vary.)

JIm is right....The KU side of AMC1 is off by 26 degrees OPPOSITE what it should be.

Check thelist at the top and if you put in your zip or city/state qwert1515 put that "quirk" in the numbers. The LNB is skewed like the dish was at 74W

I guess I'll have to take some time to figure out how to do that with the Azbox. I guess you can fine tune the azimuth/polarization with the Azbox?
