How things have changed

and again my posts were in reference to posts 484 & 486 about 2 members who were looking at possibly a streaming service for their parents. My responses were to those for the next half dozen posts or what not since I have DIrectv stream (well via the apt compound) and have 2 receivers for it instead of streaming via a Roku.

Heck my dad I try to move him to streaming and off of Dish since he watches most programs on network TV (well his GF does...he watches a few shows OTA) and the few other shows he watches are old black and white reruns that are on streaming for free. But he refuses to learn "something new" (streaming). He has to call me every month to explain to him how to switch inputs on his TV to "Peacock" for the WWE "premium live event" (formerly known as PPV).

For example, I still watch a few CBS shows, including Paramount+ originals.

Why pay twice, once to a Paid Live TV service, then I still need P+ for the originals.
You do know if you have a provider with CBS included, Paramount Plus is FREE??? So you're not "paying twice"
For gits and shiggles I just logged into it and it asked me what provider, I told it Directv stream and boom. Logged in.

That is only supposed to be with Showtime, you pay for that, get P+, but all providers do not allow that, Dish is one example.

plays shows no issues. I tried a handful of shows and they all played properly.
I don't know what to say. I logged in and it worked. Only Showtime I ever see on Directv Stream is when there is a freeview.

Off subject, but my $89.99 annual P+Showtime (no ads) started today. Remember, I was on a 50% off from last summer, declined to go full boat, then received a 30% offer.

Yes they do. Our apartment compound they give us Directv stream (Entertainment package) as part of rent. It's a box that you connect directly to internet or can use wirelessly and has same channel numbers as Directv satellite with 'regular' remote
Intersting, the Directv Stream my Parents get with thier rent, has a remote, and a guide that they use, don't remember if there are numbers, but I think there is ...
However, the Channels are all different numbers than it was on Sat D* that they are use to.

Directv stream channel numbers are identical to satellite. You can do the list by name but channels are identical.
The only exception is they can't do -1, -2 etc. so as example there are 4 305s for Ion (Ion and the 3 extra channels for WNBA).

Wait, what ?

I have Paramount Plus and YTTV and I pay for both ....
It might be a glitch…who knows. My account is in my name but the apartment compound pays for Entertainment package. We pay extra if we want say Choice or sports pack etc.
So take my post as what it's worth

Way different .... for example Channel 11 is CBS up here, it's on the Number 11 on normal D*, or 11.1 with an antenna ...
On thier D* set up its on number 5

For that matter none of the channels are the same on this set up ....
ESPN is 15 and 16

This Could be done by the company that is taking charge of it.

This is Directv from a company called Groove .... the customer doesn't deal with Directv at all, its just there and you connect the box and its good to go ... I don't recall if there is any recording capabilities or not.

Any issues, you talk with the Building maintenance and they take care of what they can.

Then it isn't how Directv stream from Directv is. I have Directv stream and the channel numbers are identical to satellite Directv.
It sounds like what my Grandma had at her apartment complex. Locals were 2-10. 3 was the built in complex message board. 11-39 were a set of stations that either were common or the tenants wanted something else on a channel. Like they removed Cartoon Network from say 14 and put in BTN (Big Ten network).

I'm sure its the same idea, probably at the discretion of the building complex as to what channels they would like and pay for ....

I don't know if they offer other add on options or not with the Directv offering.

I Like what you have, except all the Channels are not there ...
That would have worked much better for my parents as they had known all the D* channel numbers already.

They got here and said, Oh Good, its got Directv for us, didn't realize all the channels are different numbers.
They actually get 49 channels, which they watch maybe 10 (probably 6) at the most.

Because customers don't talk to Directv Groove can put channels where they want

Here is the correct list from my Directv Stream. Any channel I don't subscribe to does not show up in the channel list (the master list). The reason I use favorite is due to the streaming channels up in the 4000s and Directv uses some channel numbers for trying to upsell you.

Yes, this is what I'd expect ...
Any word if they are going to add the rest of the channels that are missing any time soon ?
