I take the opposite view. I bought one of these set for RAID 1 to go with the Hopper 3. I will have a true archive for any important recordings. If a drive fails, I can just swap in a new one.

2 2TB drives that mirror each other and seen as one. If one fails, it can be slid out of the enclosure and transparently replaced, super protection from loss. (Setting it as RAID 0 sees both drives to speed operation and is not compatible with Dish EHD. It can also be used as 2 separate drives, but 2 drives would be cheaper without the case software.)
