Does anyone know if the Hopper 2 external drive (with my DVR backup) will be readable by the Hopper 3?
Customer Specialist at Dish couldn't tell me.

Yes, it should work. If it doesn't work right away give it a day or two.

A "day or 2" isn't too helpful as if it doesn't, I've lost 1tb worth of recordings. I was going to try it before I committed to the final install

The only way to find out 100% is to install the H3 and get your updates and activate it. You shouldn't have any problem, Are you saying if your EHD is not recognized right away you would have him switch it back?.....really!....

It's helpful in that you now know not to jump to the wrong conslusion and demand going back to the H2.

i had a lot of recordings from my HWS. I brought them over to the new H3 when I upgraded and had zero problems with transferring the programs I wanted to move. I left most on the EHD in the interest of saving space though.
