Does anyone know if AA plans on offering the 4 major networks in HD? Where I live will never be in a "local" area for Dish or Direct. Plus we are too far from anything to get HD OTA. AA/DNS is picking up some of the current HD feeds out of Atlanta. BUT they are shoving out 16x9 as SD. Really great to have black bars down the sides of a non widescreen commercial, or sometimes you get bars on all 4 sides. The commercials really don't matter but the sides of the program get cut off. And sometimes they switch between standard and widescreen during the program. I just thought with all they are doing, there may be some plans of an HD feed.

Actually, I don't know if anyone else has noticed, the east coast feed is actually the 16:9 DT feed from Atlanta (most of the time with the ends chopped off, but not always), and the west coast feed is the 4:3 analog feed from San Francisco. So, if they are receiving the DT feed from Atlanta, perhaps the plan is eventually to use it to provide an HD feed--but I'm sick of waiting for it. My contract's up in August; I'll probably just move to D*

All American Direct

My experience with All American Direct has been partially satisfactory. I receive the San Francisco and Atlanta NBC and CBS stations. The San Francisco stations are excellent, although KNTV is just a tad better in picture clarity than KPIX. The Atlanta stations are good to fair. WXIA, the Atlanta NBC station, is strange. On Sunday mornings, the picture quality is excellent. Otherwise, when certain clips are ending, there it is often grainy. This can occur during clips as well. I rate WXIA's picture quality overall as just barely acceptable. WGCL, the Atlanta CBS station, is excellent, but the CBS feeds are less clear than local news or films off the CBS feed. Is this how others are receiving these stations? I had All American Direct a year ago and got fed up with the poor picture quality that was even worse than what I've described above. Now I'm back, primarily for the Atlanta news programs. Is All American Direct going to ever correct these picture quality problems?

Somebody dug deep to find this year old thread. Update is WPIX has been doing HD local news for several months now.

There is a newer thread where AAD promised somone they will have HD feeds by the first qtr of 2009. But in 2007 they told me we would have HD 1st qtr of 2008. If they don;t follow through this time, I'm gone to Direct. I have several reasons I prefer Dish but am tired of them not keeping up.

The AAD rep over the phone indicated that the HD versions would be available by the end of March 2009 (end of first quarter).

Right . They keep pushing the date for hd distants forward by a quarter. First the end of 2008 and now the end of 1st quarter of 2009 . Come March it will be the end of 2nd quarter -JUNE.
