So ESPN assumes that just because ESPN is being force feed to subs in their TV package that those people are actually watching ESPN? That's a heckuva assumption. Of all the people I meet up with I know of only one person who still watches ESPN (No, it's not me). ESPN is a has-been, it's been bleeding money for years, followed by almost yearly layoffs, and if they think this streaming service will plug the hole in the dike they are delusional. Baseball's gone, NFL football is just one game a week, TNT has better NBA coverage, and who watches hockey? So it's primarily NCAA football on Saturday, soccer (zzzzzzz), and thin niche junk like bowling, poker tournaments, and watching paint dry (formally called sports discussion shows ad nauseum).

It will be there for current Live TV subscribers, those who have left paid Live TV subscribers and those who will be leaving Paid Live TV in the future ( around 14 Million this year and next estimated), which is what Disney wants.

Will it be successful……I really doubt it, rating are still pretty terrible for most sports outside of Football.

NBC's SNF still only has 8-12 Million Households watching, that is out of 131 Million Households in the United States, World Series only averaged 6.4 Million Households, NBA/NHL get much worse ratings, specially regular season, NBA was a .5 Household average for regular season.

I just believe not enough care, if people did care, they never would of left paid live tv, or the losses would of stabilized, instead of increasing every year.

Not sure why ESPN hasn't rebranded the NBA Promotion network ... Outside of the occasional Football game (Big Ten isn't on them much anymore) I'm sure it will be big in the South, I believe the sec has ties to them now.
Any time I happen to turn them on, (now that we don't actually Channel surf thru guides, it isn't as often ) there something to do with the NBA, If your an NBA fan, great, I hope they can support the channel(s).

Anytime I would turn it on, if i'm really bored or just curious, they (use to ) have a show on with talent (if you want to call it that) just SCREAMING at one another ... or its all about basketball.

I use to watch thier shows regularly when Mike and MIKE were on (thats been a while) or I like Tony and Wilbon ... but thats about it outside of games.

I'd turn on something in the morning, say now, just to see whats going on ... 90% will be basketball, even when they were in the Middle of Football Season, NFL or College.

Just for the hell of it, I just turned espn on ....
Get Up is on and NBA talk is on with 2 commercials for the NBA as well.

First, will have the College Playoffs/Championship for many years, so if any Big Ten Teams are in those, if you wish to watch, it is a must have at that point.

The American, ACC, Big 12, Conference USA, MAC, SEC and Sun Belt are all covered by ESPN.

It will be less for me since I bundle Hulu/Disney, but will only subscribe in December/January.

In the end, streaming is still cheaper than Paid Live TV.

I'm pretty sure I heard more about the NBA during the football season than the NFL and College Playoffs.

I will need espn for a few games this year, thats about it ... The Local Toledo Rockets will be on espn on Maction Tuesday.
Maybe a few SEC games Ill watch.

Then again, I have the Disney / Hulu/ Espn package from Verizon, so, maybe not.

Summer is when I catch up on mostly streaming shows, right now focused on Paramount+, then move onto Netflix.

I do not understand how people still can watch reruns, specially stuff they have watched before, there is so much new content out there, that would keep me busy for 2 years.

Problem with that is, MANY people really like what we grew up with show wise ...

Now, on to the New stuff, (I watch each Season of the stuff I like, but often time will watch rerun of the show for something that I really don't have to Pay attention to) ...
Out of the New Stuff on these Streaming services ....
They have 100's or 1000's new things on there ...

Maybe 10% is actually Good to Great, then take out the % that You like, or are interested in, vs the % that interest Me.
Now out of those 1000's of New Content, maybe 1% as anything that would interest a particular individual.

So, Yes, theres more there, but is it worth your time ?

I have the Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+ bundle right now, Disney and Hulu ad free. I think I'm going to like this especially if ESPN goes 1080P/HDR. I guess we will see about that.

It isn't to me. The only thing I watch on ESPN is an occasional baseball or NFL game and it depends on the matchup of what teams are playing if I watch that. If I had a choice with DIRECTV of removing ESPN so the price would go down I would do it.

The better picture quality will be the biggest plus, I do know it will be in 1080P, I doubt 4K or/with HDR, except for big games.

Doesn't it depend on your tastes? For complete sports coverage like I have with Dish, I would need ESPN, Fox, Turner, and CBS. A few of these services have a few events that are available OTA but obviously not all. Then if I want TCM I've got to go to some service that provides it.
