This is giving cable a competitive advantage. Does cable have to pay for the neighboring markets like they do with the channels within their own markets?

This is where a market crosses state lines. The Scranton Wilkes-Barre market does not extend beyond Pennsylvania's borders, so that market does not get extra channels.

No but Pike county Pa is in the NY DMA with the satellite companys of D* and E*.
Cable gives ALL the Northeastern Pa Countys of Wayne, Pike, Monroe, and North Hampton countys
Scranton Wilkes Barre Pa
Philidelphia PA
and New York NY Locals.

Pike county Pa with D* and E* only Get New York Locals
Wayne and Pike only get Scranton Wilkes Barre Locals
North Hampton county gets Philidelphia Locals.

Now I also think that congress or the FCC should mandate that all cable companies and satellite companies broadcast all local digital subchannels

Here in Lincoln, NE the local cable company (Time Warner) has always carried the Omaha locals, even though technically Lincoln and Omaha are different DMAs. Dish and Direct are not allowed to offer the Omaha locals to Lincoln customers. It really sucks.

I think the satellite providers should be on an even playing field with the cable providers where local channels are concerned. Hopefully this will be worked out some day.

If it is not worked out this go around then it would not look too promising. They should have had this done already.

Anyone know when SHVERA is actually coming up for a vote? We should put together a wish list so all of us can have our friends and families bombard our congress people with emails when the time comes.
