EchoStar / Dish’s Path Forward

If the steaming services made the interaction between the users interface more of a classic cable or satellite provider with channel numbers and more of a classic guide It would be game over for traditional providers. Instead they make it way to complicated I tried hula and way too many steps just to watch a show. I also tried YouTube TV that has a nice guide but I miss the channel numbers . If they addressed that issue I would probably switch .

what is it 10.00 a month for every gemini air box 🤔 no thanks
Not if you get it from someone other than DIRECTV.
channel master made a remote with numbers for the apple tv.. don't know if they still do though
My LG has a remote with channel numbers that works to control the Apple TV/DIRECTV app when signed in with my satellite account but channel numbers still do not work in the app.

As said previously DIRECTV Stream has channel numbers if you use the DIRECTV receiver...either the Gemini or the Gemini Air.

Again, a service that does not have channel numbers, YouTube TV, a provider that only has been offering Live TV for 8 years, recently leap frogged two Satellite Providers that have been offering services for about 30 years, became the #3 Provider, behind Comcast/Charter, who are 1 and 2.

DirecTV is now #4, Dish #5.

I just can't see any future where new customers want to have a dish on their house or in their yard plus coax running everywhere. Maybe a few returning customers might come back but I just don't see a mad rush of many people wanting satellite TV. They both will be extremely lucky to just keep most of what they still have.

As streaming prices continue to go up and content is fractured between multiple sorces I would not rule out people looking at sat as a option. Even if they never had it before

What channel numbers would they use? There's no standard set except for the OTA channels. Random numbers ok? Each service use their own numbers like cable and satellite? I have our YTTV channels listed in the order we most commonly use them so their quick to find anyway. We no longer miss the numbers we had on Dish. I don't know how numbers on a Firestick, Roku, etc. remote would work across the wide variety of available apps.

And Cable/Satellite prices do not go up ?

and content is fractured between multiple sources
While true, you are ignoring the fact there is a extreme amount more streaming only content available via those multiple sources, none of it available on Traditional TV.

Why, the numbers are showing us that people are flocking to YouTube TV, the exodus from Satellite TV ( and Cable) has continued to worsen every year.

the only way to avoid price hikes is to go completely OTA using free streaming services or stop watching t,v, all together. broadcasters can negotiate for better rates when contract renewals come up don't mean that consumers can't negotiate with broadcasters for better rates. it blows my mind how many people think if they move to streaming there will be no price hikes.. right now netflix is losing there asses i am sure they will raise rates.. i see a pattern the more that leave streaming the higher it will go up same as cable and sat.. my tenants rotate services once the deals are over so every year or two they move on rinse and repete
