DO YOU THINK I COULD GET A GOOD SIGNAL WITH THIS TREE

Hello everybody! I have a question. I used this app and took these two pictures of the LOS from were I want to put the DirecTv dish. Do you think I can get a good signal with this tree in the way? I am moving here and this place is full of trees. Let know what you think.

Not a chance, looks like the whole tree has to come down. Signal can not be "viewed" through trees

As an installer I would just drive by and call with the bad news.

Thanks guys. I have directv now. There are trees in the LOS also. And I have no problems. I might just stay where I am. I know they wont let me cut that branch.

You have Directv at that location now ?

You could probably make it work, but as soon as the trees started to fill in, you would be out of service.

Judging by those pics, I am 99.99999999% sure his dish isn't sitting there. Them branches are too full to get a signal through them

No its not sitting there right now. Those pictures is where I would like to put the dish at the new place. I will take a picture tomorrow of the view of my current dish view and post. But I have trees in the LOS of my dish now. Great picture and signal also.

Theres no way you have a working setup through trees similiar to the pic in op.

I'm thinking the only way your gonna get D* where you want is if you do the install yourself and don't involve D*.

You CAN try it yourself, but as everyone has mentioned, your tree issue is severe.

A D* installer will never be able to get a signal solid enough to pass thier tests to allow it to pass .

If you do try and set it up yourself I would expect to kn ow ahead of time that you will be having a lot of issues as the leaves fill in ...

So if this is the only position you have, your out of luck.

I would look and see what its like from the roof top as well, as much as I hate having them on the roof, if the roof puts you above the trees we don't know.

I was able to do a friends that had a situation like this, but we were able to do it as the yard next to them was cleared, so they have about a 100 ft run out to the clearing, out at the edge of thier property pointing over the neighbors.

Thanks Jimbo. I will see if I can put it on the roof. But these townhouse / apt owners dont allow us. Where I am now, The D* installer had to run the cable underground to the end of the apt building. No signal from the balcony. So my dish right now is at the end of the building. I will take a picture this morning. Thank you for all the advise again. The backyard I know it can't be done. So many trees.

Hate to throw more cold water but............whatever you plan, if this is an apartment installation you will need written permission from the owner or management company. Dish location is important and you are wise to investigate before moving but the installer will also need to get some cable into your unit and run it around inside. Apartment managers consider this to be damage and want to charge you to fix it.

Hey Joe.
Yeah I got all that down. I am in an apt unit right now. I have my current dish at the end of the building and stay on the other end. The installer did a great job with the cable run. He ran it underground and behind the shingles up the second floor. I will post pictures right now of current dish.

Here is the view of my current D* dish. See how this tree is blocking some of the LOS? But I have never had any errors. Unless a very hard rain comes in here. It has to be very hard. Most of the time during rain I get no problems at all. I took a picture from inside the dish so you can see how it looks, and from the outside of the LNB's.

If you look at the cross hair on the signal pick and line it up with the top of the dish you will see your los is close, but actually fine, not to mention apps are usually a few degrees off of an incclinometer.

Yeah you are probably shooting over that tree or more than likely to the right of it. There is no way with the app showing the 101, 99 & 103 dead in the tree that it would work like that. I would assume that the dish is pulling your compass in the phone off a bit.

Hello everybody. I am here to report that the Manager had the tree removed. 30 plus year old tree gone. My neighbors can't believe they did it for me. I wanted my
Directv bad.lol It took a long time but hey its finally gone. So I AM BACK!! YEA!!!
