Disney announces price increases to streaming products

Every TV service in existence is going to have price hikes regularly so good luck finding one where you can watch TV for the rest of your life with no increases. Let me know what service it is and I will join you there.

My antenna has no price hikes. Installed it when I moved to where I live now (5+ years ago). Charges have been zero and I got channels not on satellite. (No not them oddball subs. We have a sports network on a subchannel. Satellite doesn't carry the CW either).

That depends. My local channel KRON, Channel 4 is the SF Bay area's CW station. Dish carries it on satellite because it is the main channel not a subchannel.

Watching ads is a cost to me. And you know they will be adding more and more ads per every time slot just like the networks and cable channels have done over the years.

There's only so much ad time they can fit in to the programming they don't control, so your "cost" doesn't go up nearly as much as the paid subscriptions. If you don't want ads, then the increases are just part of the cost of your entertainment.

Yes satellite carries lots of CW stations. My point was Directv and Dish do not carry my markets CW so I use my antenna.

For your benefit and my own, I hope ATSC 1.0 broadcasting remains an option. The 3.0 stuff is a mess.

3.0 appears dead, killed by greed just like what is killing cable and satellite.

There's a guy who is all about 3.0 on You tube and he said the sticking point is that the ota channels in 3.0 will use encryption, which doesn't allow recording them. The FCC has already told channel owners if they want to go to 3.0 and drop their 1.0 HD signal they can do so. But if we aren't allowed to record the new 3.0 channels then what good are they to the consumer? GREED once again is the sticky point. These same companies didn't want us to be able to record their HD channels using Dvd recorders and made sure you couldn't do HD only 480p. You can't even buy a new dvd recorder anymore in this country. If the ota channels switch over without fixing this encryption problem, they will end up losing people - who would use their channels. Might just hasten the end of free ota channels period.

Hopefully they will have another good Black Friday special. Mine will be up on November 27.

Just notified today they are bumping up my rates on October 27, 30 days earlier than I agreed to last year.

Looks likely I will be going without Disney for a while. Have not actually watched any Disney content since season 2 of Andor. Couple things I will catch on Hulu before I cancel next month.
