I wonder if the streaming HD will every happen. How would they be able to protect the stream from being copied? I am willing to bet that eventually the movie studios will squash it.
In the past I would have said, "No!" However the 942 and VIP Series receivers have been pretty darn good out of the box. The E* hardware and software engineers have been doing a pretty good job with their boxes.
Not much in the way of bugs when I got one of the early 721s. Of course, they introduced a few later.....
My ViP622 worked fine, I had a sorta early version of that. Later developed the HDMI connector problem, but other than that, little in the way of bugs that affected me.
Moved to the ViP722 early on, no bugs. Second ViP722, no bugs. Except now, even when watching a DVR'd program, if the satellite signal is lost, I get the error message onscreen. That's a bug, but not too big of one, and certainly one they should be able to easily fix.
SURE! I'd gladly get another early model DVR from Dish. And with great confidence.
