so im on a private island in the south caribbean, and i want use my US reciever and direct tv account, anyone know what sort of dish hardware do i need and whats the bird i should point to?

Does the footprint reach that far south ?

If so, you'll want to be able to hit the 101 Sat for the Core programming and the 99 and 103 for HD if it's possible from there.

oh and by south i mean 10 degrees north 62 degrees west.....

well i know im in the very fringe of 101, but still not sure what size dish i would need to get a reliable connection

The signal from 101 doesn't go anywhere near to where you are. Check the satmaps link at the top of the page and look at the CONUS map for 101.

ditto on the above, you seem to be too far south, if you really want DirecTV on your island, you may check into DirecTV Caribbean:
