622 Remotes....

My 622 is now about 2 1/2 years old and I only use it in TV1 mode. The #1 remote (5.3 IR) wore out and I started using the #2 remote (6.3 IR/UHF) for the 622. I have been running into problems with using it with antenna on the 622 as to where the 622 is located. I have even put a coax on it in order to see if I could move it to a better location.
My question here is that many moons ago (memory is not serving me well here) I thought I read here that the #2 remote could be changed to an IR remote to control the 622 by changing the "key" on the bottom of the remote? I looked at the IR #1 remote today which has the "green #1" bottom but see no way to removing it if it was indeed a "key".
If anyone makes sense of my ramblings above could you provide me with any info as to whether this can be done or not?

AUX button

After much googling, I found that the 6.3 remote can be turned into an IR remote by programming the "AUX" button. This seems to be working fine in limited testing so far. If I find that the buttons are also going bad on this one then I will order a new 5.3 remote from a place I found on the net.

I'm not familiar with the Aux button method, but to change the Remote 2 key, open battery compartment, and remove small screw at the bottom and flip the key to the black side.
