EIA-608 or EIA-708 type CC? I understood that the V9 only displayed DVB EN300743 and EBU types of CC. Not typically used for services targeting North America distribution.

Some STBs have been capable of displaying or passing the embedded EIA-608, but unable to extract the EIA-708 from the transport stream and display via OSD on HDMI. I am only aware of PC based solutions for consumers displaying EIA-708 CC.

All I have is to push a subtitles button and CC menu selction on CS 1 or CC 1, CC2, CC3 and the rest are text 1. "Primitive teletext never used right now but back in 1980's there were bunch of them at that time!"

I am sure European Subtitles does work on FTA I noted on scrambled Mexican stations use European Subtitles and my V9 graphics display shows red color showing subtitles.

V9 will not show U.S. CC unless you try pushing subtitles button.

Of course it will not decode text since it's scrambled.

I get U.S. CC on Newsnation FTA, NHK World on 101 W*, Main PBS FTA on 99.2 W* and ABC and CW "Temporary Superstations on 87W*.

It's not my TV doing the job it's V9 doing the job decoding U.S. CC system!
