Does an owned receiver have to be connected to a telephone line? And does the new receivers have the option of only one receiver connected to handle all of them.
No receivers HAVE to be connected to a phone line. But the 522/322/622/942 all need to be connected to avoid a $5/month fee. The new Vip receivers are supposed to have the DishComm feature but I don't believe it's enabled yet.
I ask because I am in the process of re-installing all my equiptment and am running into a problem with telephone outlet acess to two receivers. No sinster motive. I have no problem with telephone connection as long as the cost/benifit ratio is favorable. That's all.
The wiring outlets that you can get tend to interfere with the caller ID function of the phones.
Thanks.
