It's a two part process when you post. The thread gets posted and then you have the ability to fill in the options.

Voom haters have an early opportunity to skew the poll since they are still hopped up in their blood lust for more ad riddled rerun channels in glorious upconverted HD.

The channels I watch the most are still on E*, and I'm saving over $25/month over Comcast & D* to get them, so it's really not a big deal to me. I'm not "Happy" since losing channels is never something you hope for, but in the end this move doesn't affect me and my viewing habits.

I'd classify myself as a Voom hater, in fact, I had removed them from my guide all together. I'm not happy that they're gone, but I do feel that it was a long time coming... when I've only had dish for a few months and I can already say I've seen most of the Voom shows something seriously is wrong. I would have loved to see them 'fix' Voom instead of removing it, the channels were good concepts, but I think that D* ad that referred to "Channels you've never heard of" was spot on. If E* wants to be successful they need to market to the consumer, not HD 'snobs' who are willing to watch the same Blue-Man-Group concert for the 7th time, just because its in HD...

If Voom would have gotten some better programming perhaps (seriously, who wants to watch Flipper, even if it is HD) and more new original stuff, maybe purchased some shows from PBS (NOVA / Frontline have large HD libraries now) it could have been awesome. But instead, it stagnated and suffered... Even if they just add HD 'placeholders' I'll be happy, as an HD Only subscriber any channel is a new one for me.

You missed one in the poll. Leaving elsewhere whether Voom comes back or not. I am in that category. Right now, I am looking at other possibilities but would like to wait until the dust finally settles. But once is done, I am taking my $$$ elsewhere. I will become part of the churn. It will be Adios...

I did not care for Voom and voted that way. I am not a Voom hater. I just did not watch the channels.

I do think this is a bad move for E*. To just remove channels like this is wrong. And even if I did not watch Voom I am still upset that E* has done this.

I am wondering if this is one of those poker moves the E* does and to get Voom a little cheaper.

Interesting how this question is asked about Voom but not all the other non-Voom channels doing the exact same thing only with upconverted programming interrupted by ads every 7 minutes.

Who wants to watch Flipper? How about the stuff on Chiller? It isn't even HD.

It will be interesting to see the complaint levels in a month or two after everyone has forgotten about Voom and have to live with the repetitious, upconverted, ad delivery programming we will be stuck with.


Eventually, most channels will be in HD and like most of the SD channels today, unwatched.

I was a Voom satellite customer years ago and I loved the service. Initially, the Voom exclusive channels were outstanding, but with the lack of substantial new programming it is no longer "Compelling" programming. I had hoped that Voom would either add more new programming......or combine programming and reduce the number of channels......but it clearly is not going to happen. I don't feel that the 22 for 15 swap this week is fair, but I will give Dish the benefit of the doubt that either more channels will added in the next couple weeks or changes will be made on the packages and prices to compensate customers for the loss of 15 24/7 HD channels.......even with the extraordinary high repeats.

I really like Rave, but other than that, I really didn't watch much on VOOM. Occasionally a little Rush (only about 4 actual shows on constant repeat). I am realizing that with the 200 package,

I would probably be better off dropping the Ultimate and moving up to the 250, than sticking with what I have.

I would get Vs, ABC Fam HD, Bravo HD, Tenis HD, National Geo HD, Science HD, BIO HD, and Hallmark Movie HD. So I get 8 HD Channel, plus an exta 50 SD channels for the same price as 7 HD channels.

I lose two good movie channels in MGM HD and Universal HD, but I would get the entire Encore package in SD.

I don't ever watch NBA TV HD, and HDNET Movies don't show many movies I watch.

Seems like I might be spending my $10 in the wrong spot. I wonder if they will shake this all out, so I might hold on for a bit.

Anyone know if I drop my HDPack down by raise my core package if I will still get charged $5 for a downgrade in packages?

Enjoyed a few channels in the Voom package, favorite was Rave.
I will change my HD package back to the basic.
I will miss Universal HD!!

Cancelled service. While it may have been a smart move in order for E* to add more national HD, you just don't remove 15 channels without letting your customers know.

My $$ will be going elsewhere.

No biggie to me. I'm not a Voom hater, but I didn't watch it much either. But I have to say that it seems like Voom is a badly run company. They apparently don't honor their contracts, they don't spend the required amount of money on programming, and they insist on keeping alive this huge suite of 15 channels, which very few cable or sat providers are interested in adding to their lineups (even if they have the bandwidth). Voom does have a knack for creating some interesting content, but repeating it with the frequency they do is ridiculous. If they were smart, they'd consolidate their programming into 5 or so very compelling channels with less repetition. A suite of 5 very compelling channels would have a much higher likelihood of being picked up by other providers.

So, in a way, Voom has shot themselves in the foot on this one, and Dish isn't offering up any Band-aids -- Dish is basically telling Voom to fix the problem or they're gone. Right now, Dish removed them from the tables, but all the channels are still uplinked. They can easily be put back in the tables if Voom gets its act together. But if Voom stays stubborn, then Dish can take them down for good. It's really up to Voom now what happens.

The circumstantial evidence seems to be bad for VOOM. I am disappointed to lose 24/7 HD (repeat or not) content. Is there any possiblity now that Superation WGNHD might become available? I realize most (if not all) of their HD content would be Cubs/Sox/Bulls, but I love to watch Wrigley in HD and I live in St. Louis so OTA is not an option.

D* has more HD, better HD, and more sports. If D* would now pick up VOOM, it is hard for me to make an argument to stay with E*.

If D* gets VOOM, there is no question I will switch. What would be the point of staying. Honestly I can't understand why some people are glad to see VOOM go. Why would anyone want to pay more for less HD. I'm sticking around mainly because I have a DVR and hard drive full of good Monsters HD/ Kung Fu stuff I can't get anywhere else.

This really REALLY hurts. I'm recommending D* to all others. Here is a question, if you didn't have a large amount of programming on your DVR/ Ext. Hard Drive, would you have any reason left to stay?
