What remote is it? Turn it over on the back is a model number.

I tried using them "as is" from when they controlled the 522, but no such luck. I was hoping there might be a remote address change or some such I can do to make them work.

Yes. You will almost certainly have to just change the remote address.

The IR remote often works without modification unless someone has messed with it to change it from the default code set (this may be done if there are multiple DISH receivers or if there is a conflict with another piece of equipment).

Ok, so the IR remote for TV1 is a 6.4, I easily got it programmed to control the receiver, works perfect.

However, the UHF remote for TV2 is a 6.3 and I cannot get it to work when programmed to the same remote address as the 21.1 remote that came with the 722. Whenever I program the remote address it makes one remote "UHF pro band A" and then if I try to set the second remote to the same address it will become "UHF pro band B" and then the band A remote will not work. And yes, I want both UHF remotes to operate the same TV2 output We have a 3rd TV in the house receiving the sat. signal via a wireless sender and I like to have a UHF remote in that room to control the receiver. Is there a way to get both remotes set to the same band??

Nevermind guys, I figured it out...I had to choose an odd numbered remote address to get the 21.1 remote to be "band A" like the 6.3

Yup, and I guess that would of been the quick and easy way to do it, LOL - geesh, I was overthinking it, Duh.....

Now that the remotes are up and running, I just have to add a quick vent for no other reason except to vent.
I like to have plenty of remotes...extras are better. Plus I like to have one specifically for the kids use and one for my use only that I keep out of their reach Nothing more frustrating then missing remotes, my wife and kids are notorious remote losers, one time after a remote was missing for 2 days, I found it outside!

We recently moved and in the process was upgraded to the 722, the email I received from DISH said my 522 was obsolete and would not have to be returned. Installers show up and they say they have to take the 522, ok, fine, I was not going to make a stink about it, they said they had to return it to Dish or get penalized, so it was of no use to me and I didn't want them to get penalized if that was the case. But then they said they also needed the remotes, this upset me for the reasons above because I assumed I could use them with the 722, when I told them this, they said "No, they will not work with the 722".
I had 4 remotes, but 2 of the 4 oldest ones were still packed away in boxes in the garage, So I turned over my less than year old pair of remotes only to find out now they would of worked fine!! Grrrrrr.......

Pick up a couple at Walmart as well. They are all 21.1 if not mistaken.

They should have let him keep the 522, if it is a purchased receiver, and obsolete. It would still work for anything that was already recorded on it, and it might still work to receive some programming. I still use a deactivated 501, and it still gets a few channels, even several years after I deactivated it.

Not eBay. Every tech I have had, has had a bucket of remotes in his truck. Dozens. I did ask to take a couple, but none were 40.0's, as that was at the Hoppers inception.

This varies widely from model to model. My 508 is pretty much toast and I disconnected it before deactivating it. It will tune a handful of "channels" but the recorded content cannot be accessed.
