It's a good thing you shared this information because looking at Blair Underwoods is like looking at a mirror image of Raymond Burr.

I give this show 13-episodes berfore being cancelled. Still, I'm setting a timer because there are so few new shows that have grabbed my attention.

I have an friend coming from England to visit in a few weeks. I'll have to show them an episode of Elementary and get their take on the Yank's remake. I'll probably get socked in the eye.

After watching Sherlock (the UK version, available on Netflix), and the first couple episodes of Elementary (that's all it took for me to delete the timer), I wouldn't blame him

They at least did not call the US series Sherlock, so one could argue that it is supposed to be something completely different.

That's actually why they did that. BBC questioned it when the US announced the series. CBS defended not paying them anything, as the characters are in the public domain, and remakes in "modern" times have been done several times before. Using the same name would open them up to liability.

Only remakes I've seen of a British show that's I've seen any justice done to are "All In The Family" and "The Office".

I'm a huge Sherlock Holmes fan and though that I would hate Elementary...but it's not bad, and I don't equate the show to being anything like SH.

Back to Ironside...I saw the Pilot show On Demand last night. Meh! It was okay, but nothing special. I'll give it two more viewings before deciding whether to delete the timer.

About the same here. I liked it well enough, nothing great, but loved how he treated the criminals. I've give a couple episodes as well before deciding to keep or not keep it.

Having watched the original Ironside, I´d say this one doesn´t have much resemblance.

I guess one have to keep in mind it´s not really the same thing, and sometimes these remakes work, like in the case of Hawaii Five-O and sometimes they´re just a total failure like ABC´s Charlie´s Angels (two years ago).

The series premiere of Ironside scored a 1.4 adults 18-49 rating down 26 percent from a 1.9 for the series premiere of Chicago Fire in the timeslot on October 10, 2012 and ranking as NBC's lowest rated fall drama debut ever.

Expectations were low. Expectations were met.
NBC's Ironside premiere delivered a rusted rating Wednesday night. The remake of the classic 1960s-70s series about a wheelchair-bound detective starring Blair Underwood had 6.8 million viewers and a 1.4 rating at 10 p.m., ranking third in the hour. Ironside marks NBC's lowest-rated fall drama debut ever in the demo (though not among total viewers). The previous low was 2011?s utterly doomed Playboy Club with a 1.6.
And yet … the year-ago time-slot comparison gives you a bit of pause. Because Chicago Fire debuted in this slot with a less-terrible-yet-still-pretty-bad 1.9 rating and look where it is today — winning Tuesdays at 10 p.m. with a spin-off on the way. If only NBC could air The Voice every night, all its problems would be solved!
Over on ABC, the network's new comedy entry, Super Fun Night, impressed at 9:30 p.m. after Modern Family. Despite middling reviews, Rebel Wilson's comedy got off to fairly strong start with 8.2 million viewers and a 3.2 rating, rising from the premiere of Suburgatory in the slot last fall.
