Bad 8psk adapter?

My 6000 recently stopped working. I am unable to receive any signal from a satellite. If I remove the 8psk adapter and use the old satellite in connector, the 6000 work's. Am I safe in assuming that if I install a new 8psk, the 6000 will work?

That's what recently happened to me. One morning my TV just had the message "Acquiring Satellite Signal". After a reboot it remained and stayed that way for a couple of hours. Luckily I had a spare module on hand. After replacing it, everything worked great.
