Lol. I am one of those that do not care. As long as I can hear and see it, I'm satisfied.Nope. You ain't doing anything wrong. I have the same situation. I don't use the Hopper app because of the lack of 5.1 audio. I use my PS3. It would be a lot more convenient to use the Hopper app. Hopefully someday it will be available in 5.1.
A lot of people probably don't care about the sound. But us with high end Audio Systems certainly do.
Hear that Dish ?

I got a $75 full 5.1 sound system. The movie experience is fine here, even through the Hopper app, in my opinion. We are not picky. Actually when the walls shake it is too loud for me. Fortunately I like it more on the stereo side of things. It's the sound that makes a movie experience much more enjoyable.
I use my BR player for Netflix because the PQ is clearly better that way than on the Hopper, for most of the programming anyway.Nope. You ain't doing anything wrong. I have the same situation. But my whole system is perfectly fine for me. I bought the whole set in 2012 for $75, and it works like a charm in my living room.$75? Joking? The cheapest speaker in my 7.1 system cost more than that.
It seems it is a some do, some don't kind of thing. I'm using optical audio and not getting anything but stereo.I guess it's got lower priority until a few bigger fixes happen... If you absolutely must have it, it works with fiber optic link....
