    Repairing an EHD

It's a little late for that! I gave up trying to repair the file system on that partition and just reformatted it. So however many programs will fit in 500GB is how many programs I lost. I think the Hopper fills up partitions in order, so the bad one was the 2nd so I believe it was completely...

Hopper 3 Version 392 is Here

Even with no OTA channels, it still won't make it through one movie without at least one crash and reboot. I hope this stops when it has the satellite again.

    Repairing an EHD

Yeah, it worked for me too when this same thing happened on my 1.5TB disk on a 722. I simply repaired the bum partition and the 722 mounted it just fine. IIRC the bad partition was empty and I saved all my recordings, with possibly a few lost and gone forever. Back then as now all partitions...

Hopper 3 Version 392 is Here

Well my friends, I can't even delete the old channels without plugging in the OTA adapter and rebooting. Doing that now. OK; the H3 rebooted faster than expected. I had 67 channels in there and I removed them all pending my decisions on an antenna. I am now about 20 mi farther from the...

Hopper 3 Version 392 is Here

That is an excellent idea. My OTA adapter is currently unplugged because I have no antenna on this house. Yet. Need to delete those channels.

    Repairing an EHD

I suffered the disappearance of my 6TB Seagate on my H3 a few months ago. The old/original H3 was replaced without fixing that, but an older EHD from my 612 days worked fine on the "new" H3. So I decided there was something amiss with my 6TB Seagate and I attempted to repair it. I...

Hopper 3 Version 392 is Here

Well, this is annoying as hell. Recall that I don't have an aligned dish yet. (A longer mast just arrived.) I've been watching prerecorded programs, but I can't get through a single 2-hr movie without the Hopper crashing and rebooting. Has anybody seen that behavior without the satellite?

Hopper 3 Version 392 is Here

Ahem. The Joey's 54 remote somehow went from "working" to dead overnight, and new batteries fixed that. The Hopper's 54 remote somehow became unpaired but I located my 40.0 UHF 2G and discovered that and fixed it. The Hopper wanted to update the remote. Don't know what needed updating...

Hopper 3 Version 392 is Here

Thanks, Bobby, for these detailed instructions which I have printed out. No, I did not mix up the remotes and yes they are both 54's and they were both working as of last night when I unplugged the H3 and J3 to bring them to my new house. Why in heck would they stop working when the dish...

Hopper 3 Version 392 is Here

Well, I can no longer check my firmware version since I moved my Hopper and Joey from my old house to new, and the remotes no longer work! (They worked fine last night.) My install this morning failed due to lack of a longer J-tube mast. Idiots! Why do they even come up with a whiff of a...

Apparently I've been away too much. Do you have a URL to the post where you described what happened?

Rumor? Eastern arc is being retired? (Yes its just a rumor for now.)

That's not many compared to 16 + 2 + 3 (if they're part of PTAT) channels in real time. I guess I hardly needed that many, so maybe. My J3's used to do that too. But now I just get a DHCP failure and nothing happens. The Ethernet jack is literally useless unless you plug it into the 2nd...

Rumor? Eastern arc is being retired? (Yes its just a rumor for now.)

Can existing H3 hardware support a streaming-only business model? I'm still seriously annoyed that I can't use my J3 using Ethernet-only, so I suppose the answer is "No".

Hopper hard drive duplication for backup

I haven't tried this on my Hopper, but on my 722 EHD it most assuredly has to be owned by root:root. I found that out the hard way by using the GUI on... I think it was Scientific Linux which is a now defunct redistribution of RHEL. In any case, the screen manager, whatever it was, was not...

    Hopper 3 software version 389

Dish chat fixed the issue with DishAnywhere. All I needed to do was log out and re-activate and it picked up the new receiver.

    Alexa issues

Interesting. So are you saying that ALL your Echoes at both houses announce the doorbell at either house? Only my nearest Echo Dot does that.

    Hopper 3 software version 389

Watch remotely? Since when can you watch EHD programs remotely? I could do that in my 722/Sling Adapter days, until Dish removed that capability. But I have never seen my EHD using DishAnywhere. Of course with the new receiver, I can't even see those internal programs, but that's another issue.

    Hopper 3 software version 389

The new receiver transferred 492 events out of 494, which difference is probably two programs I deleted before the transfer completed. Still no EHD shows up. So I did some more experimentation with the EHD's I have from my 722 and 625 days. Both show up and work with the new receiver. When I...

    Alexa issues

I recently moved into a new house with a Ring video doorbell. I just got it set up and linked to my Alexa account. Interesting fact: when I push the doorbell button, only the nearest Echo announces "there is somebody at the front door". How does it know to use only the nearest Echo rather...

    Hopper 3 software version 389

No idea. I am living in Manassas and my receiver is still in Fairfax. That's why I tried DishAnywhere to see how many programs had been transferred. DIshAnywhere still shows the old receiver number and gives the "Something went haywire" messge. My.Dish shows the new receiver online and with...

    Hopper 3 software version 389

I thought I'd check on the number of "events" it has via DishAnywhere. But when I select DVR it says "Something Went Haywire. We are unable to connect to your receiver." Boo hiss. How long before DishAnywhere can connect to the "new" receiver?

    Hopper 3 software version 389

Another update to my disappearing EHD problem: Received new(?) Hopper3 replacement. If it's not new, it's in pristine condition. Updated old receiver from 389 to 390 just to see if the EHD would make an appearance. It didn't. Saved receiver settings to 40 remote. Unplugged old H3. Moved all...

    Hopper 3 software version 389

Huh. I couldn't see the back when I moved the cable, but I thought I plugged it into the USB3 port because I have my AirTV adapter plugged into the hub on the Seagate. Aha. I found a picture on Solid Signal:

Hopper 3 software version 390 is out.

Ah... What does that mean? Fewer? Blacker like HDR can give? I wish it would fix my missing EHD issue, but alas I still have 389.

    Hopper 3 software version 389

I had a good diagnostic phone call with Dish support regarding this issue. What my tech had me do that I had not already done was plug the Seagate into the upper USB port. No change. The receiver can "see" when I unplug it, but when I plug it back in, nothing happens including the hated...
