Once they stopped using 129, I took the 1000.2 out of my travel trailer and went back to using a D500.

Dish really dropped the ball on this one when they didn't release the DPP33 switch at the time.

What would a NAND failure involve? In other words, what exactly is failing?

I have found that the Partial Zoom setting is the best compromise in these situations.

My Wally has a general 'sluggishness' about it as well. I thought it was just mine. Not having the shutdown problems you are having, but you are dead on about the skip back function. I've reduced my TV watching to just an hour or two before bed so, to me, these are just minor annoyances.

It gets even better. Once I was with my wife at a liquor store. I said something about Canadian Whiskey. When I got home, there were Canadian Whiskey ads in my feed. The weird part is that my wife was the only one with a phone.

What are the other receivers? Are they something you could swap the Wally with to troubleshoot?

I had that problem with MS Edge for several months. Clearing History wasn't enough, so I searched my Cookies for "satelliteguys" and found several. Deleted those and was able to log back in (finally).

Interesting. According to the 211z literature, an OTA adaptor was available. But the part number provided is the same as a Wally adaptor, which say aren't compatible with the 211 series. Maybe user pattykay has some insight on this.

Truely. I bought a 40.0 remote from an eBay seller many months ago and it just refused to pair. After fighting with it for weeks, I decided it was defective and was literally minutes away from throwing it in the trash. I decided to try ONE MORE TIME and it finally paired. I just hope it never...

Do you think this is going to be permanent? I do a lot of 'boondock' camping (211/Welcome Pack) and I like the idea of going back to a D500.

After seeing this thread I went to my Wally to see what channel 100 was. Never watched it. Hopefully they aren't also taking away the Weather Interactive on the older receivers. I still use that when camping and cell service/internet is iffy.

I have to admit, even when my cell phone rings, I'll glance at the TV for the caller ID. Old habits die hard.

If the hard drive you used with the 211 is smaller than 500 gb, it would be a no-go anyway.

When I first got a Wally, I used a (Dish) Legacy LNB pointed at 61.5 just to see if that combination would work. It did. So, I'd guess what the OP wants to do is possible.

I would call Dish and see what new equipment is needed.

And zip ties were your best friend.

When I got my camper (several years ago), all I had was a WA 1000.2 and that's exactly what I did. With my 'older than dirt' Channel Master signal meter, I could get signal to very satisfactory levels. I have since acquired some EA LNBs.
