Any Major Channels not offered in HD?

Understood. Many of the complaints I read were from people who also had no other practical choices for broadband. My comments were not meant to disparage Windstream, but I read enough to persuade me that, as stated above, it would be a step backward for me to go from my fairly reliable and...

Any Major Channels not offered in HD?

Yes - an important question. Initially I was looking for overall cost savings when TWC was about to raise my rates significantly. That led me to look at all my options for all 3 services. I then called TWC back, indicating that I could duplicate their services for $130/month with...

Any Major Channels not offered in HD?

Not really. Currently, $130/month with TWC for phone, TV, Internet. If I switch to Dish for TV, it's $70/month + fees/taxes, leaving $60 or so for internet/phone. The "problem" is that my renegotiated rate with TWC for all 3 bundled services is pretty darn good, so achieving the same cost...

Any Major Channels not offered in HD?

I'm exploring the cost differences. I currently have TWC for TV, Internet and Phone, with a recently re-negotiated monthly cost of $130 (guaranteed for a year). Dish, by itself, AT250, 1 Hopper, 1 SuperJoey, 1 Joey, would be $70 plus taxes/fees. TWC Internet and Phone has to be less than $60...

Any Major Channels not offered in HD?

Doing a little more digging on Windstream's DSL delivery in general, and their reputation looks relatively bad (although, as with everything else, those with problems are going to be doing the posting, not those who are happy with the service). DSL Reports has many Windstream reviews, and very...

Any Major Channels not offered in HD?

Thanks for the post and information. With TWC, I'm "used to" 15mbps or more down (1mbps up), so would hate to scale back from that, although I'm glad it's working out for you. I am curious though - I would imagine that being limited to 0.768 mbps upload would be an issue when trying to stream...

Any Major Channels not offered in HD?

FWIW, my particular interest is in TWC vs Dish. Not really concerned about Direct (although this information may be of use to others).

Any Major Channels not offered in HD?

Empirical evidence at its best! Guess the currently posted channel listing is just inaccurate on this item. 340 definitely is not shown as being part of the AT 250.

Any Major Channels not offered in HD?

Exactly. It's conflicting information like this on various Dish pages that led to my starting this thread.

Any Major Channels not offered in HD?

I appreciate all the replies. Yes, I probably should have been more specific in my post, as to individual channels. But "major" I guess I was thinking of popular ones, such as Disney. But clearly, those channels will be irrelevant for many people. Fox Sports 2 is shown in the Top 250...

Any Major Channels not offered in HD?

I'm still exploring moving from TWC to Dish. Currently waiting for confirmation of DSL speeds from Windstream which could kill the deal if not adequate. But anyhoo... I was reading the Disney/XD thread, where apparently at least some Disney channels aren't being offered in HD. That makes me...

does dish network have more weather related problems than directv?

Interesting post. Do the HD and bandwidth issues you refer to also impact overall image quality, pixelation during fast transitions and such?

    Fox Soccer Plus

That would be great: win-win for everybody. Great functionality for users, and good for promotions by Dish. Heck I'd even pay a few bucks for an app that did that! But I hereby claim 15% of any net profits from this idea!:devilish

Any way to avoid $15 fees when xfer to Rental Car?

Interesting - found this on their website's company timeline, 1969: So it wasn't from Kirk's Enterprise? Who knew?? ;)

    Fox Soccer Plus

Thanks again, guys. Yes, the Dish Anywhere app and the built-in Sling along with the Hopper's other capabilities, are among the primary reasons I'm considering the switch. TWC does have its app as well, but I can't watch my recordings, and if I'm away from the home network, the selection of...

    Fox Soccer Plus

P.S., milequatro - my wife said to thank you for letting us know about that app - she says it's just perfect, and makes it *so* much easier to figure out what's on, when, and where. The next step, that would be really cool, would be to enable it to access your Dish DVR, and simply click on a...

    Fox Soccer Plus

milequatro - thanks again! She's downloading it now. Looks like an awesome app. Deadlocked - thanks to you as well. Yes, I saw Universal Sports in that package, so can check it out until 12/31 if we go ahead. I appreciate your offer as well, and if I decide to pull the trigger, may take you...

    Fox Soccer Plus

Once again, I think you may be right. I had my wife recheck channel listings, and games/leagues she's interested in, and she came back and told me that FS1 and FS2 seem to give her what she needs. That would certainly simplify things for us!

    Fox Soccer Plus

I may have misspoken. I think you're right about Premiere League. It seems that the UEFA Champions League, which she also watches, is only on FS+, although I'm not certain of that. I'm trying to figure out if there are games/leagues that she wants that are on FS+ only, and not also carried on...

    Fox Soccer Plus

Thanks for the quick reply - seriously, what took you so long?;) And I was afraid that might be the answer. Any chance they'd make some kind of adjustment in order to get a new customer and 2 years of business, if I contacted them directly? Don

    Fox Soccer Plus

I am considering switching from TWC to Dish, and doing my homework to make sure I understand what I would or wouldn't be getting, and avoid unwelcome surprises. The Top 250 would give me pretty much the same channel selection as what I current have with TWC, with 2 exceptions: Fox Soccer Plus...

Any way to avoid $15 fees when xfer to Rental Car?

Update: I just did an online chat with a SiriusXM rep, explained the situation, and she checked with her supervisor, and in less than a minute, they said they would waive the fee on both ends, so it will end up costing me nothing. I'm impressed. Online chats usually get me nowhere, regardless...

Any way to avoid $15 fees when xfer to Rental Car?

Interesting - I called Enterprise, and they do not charge extra to use the SiriusXM Radio, if the vehicle has one. Avis does charge for it. Guess in the future, I'll have to take this into consideration when I make my reservations. Can't switch for this one, as I got a really good rate...

Any way to avoid $15 fees when xfer to Rental Car?

Yeah, I was just thinking about that as well. I'll call our Car Rental company, and see if it includes use of the SiriusXM radio, as SteveD has indicated has been the case of him (although I'm quite doubtful of this for my situation).

Any way to avoid $15 fees when xfer to Rental Car?

Looks like I can get a free trial of the Internet Radio. I did a chat with them, and they estimated 94mb/hour for Android. I don't have unlimited data on my Verizon phone, so I need to consider my data usage. Does their estimate sound reasonable?
