    beefing up a j-pole

Thanx for the tips erveryone. I'm not sure i would have figured all of this out... The slimline one looks pretty impressivve at 2" with the braces and all... The starband one looks even more impressive... I'll keep my eye out for both and see what kind of deals I can get.... Just looking on...

    beefing up a j-pole

I'm not sure about the price... maybe $20? galvanized pipe and fittings in that diameter are pretty cheap. The foot and support braces are sturdy now... but indeed that is a big question. Currently, the pipe itself is flexing above the brace... More than anything it is twisting but there...

    beefing up a j-pole

I decided to start a new thread... The old thread was about a Channel Master dish and for all practical purposes, with everyones help, I got that dish working... so it started to divert to J-poles and antenna mounts... which in my mind is off topic... correct me if I'm wrong.

    beefing up a j-pole

I'm sure this has been thought of before.. so maybe someone can point me to a thread or something.... I'm having problems with my j-pole flexing too much. After looking around I found out that 1.25" galvanized pipe has a 1-5/8 inch diameter OD(same as the j-pole)... and is much much...

the good, the bad, and the ugly well... Its been through its paces.. I got a precise alignment... i don't have a blind scan receiver so I just scanned each bird on known TP lists. I've run the snot out of it on the motor looking for backlash, repeatability, and wobble... any side effects of...

    FTA receiver w/ NetFlix capability

again... this is using an asic for hardware decoding... Linux is not doing the work. One of these days MS/Novell allow netflix to run on linux.. until then I don't think we'll see it in FTA STB's... mainly because they won't license the asics. In NA, FTA manufacturers are selling...

    FTA receiver w/ NetFlix capability

Silverlight is a streaming application... not necessarily web based. The roku is linux based, but uses an asic to decode the silverlight stuff... it does not use software.

Well I made the bracket today. Took about an hour and cost $22 at ace hardware. I'm gonna try to attach a few pics... hopefully it works I started with a piece of 8" x 9" x .25" aluminum plate. I chose 9" to give myself a little room for the jack screw. like everyone else, I used an old...

    FTA receiver w/ NetFlix capability

I don't know for sure but I would be suprised if the AZBox did netflix. the AZBox runs linux. Netflix depends on Microsoft Silverlight... Though microsoft and novell have released silverlight packages for linux, they have been careful to always make sure that netflix requires a newer version...

    setup help please

well... your settings are wrong... you're receiver is setup for C band and you have KU equipment. I'm kinda new myself but... I think this might get you a lil closer. C/KU switch - none lnb freq - 10750 lnb power - on 22khz - off ov/12v - ov tone burst - off diseqc - off/none...

my sides are ~34.5". I measured end to end along the outside of the bend with a piece of string, then measured the string with a tape measure... so there might be some measurement transfer errors... but that should be close. I suppose that if the side arms lnb bracket both change then it...

    Channel Master dish

well... I have tried to upload a pic of the bent bottom leg about 40 times... each time changing the image to different sizes and formats... for some reason it aint going.

    Channel Master dish

as I was just putting the dish back together I noticed each leg had a sticker on it... The sticker is on the end where the pole is inserted into the dish hole so its not visible unless the legs are out of this dish. The sticker, on all 3 legs, reads "1.0M offset antenna leg set". There doesn't...

Yep OSU... I measured from end to end of the pole. its 23" well... there is another discrepancy... my lower leg is bent maybe 10 degrees. see the attachment... I don't have matlab on this computer... but let me take a stab at this. if you make the bottom leg slightly shorter and...

    Channel Master dish

Thanx OSU!!! mine measures up to be 23"... discrepancy. So I messed around a little and noticed that the dish and lnb bracket both have guides that hold the poles to a reasonable tolerance. Any change to any one pole would mean that all the poles and lnb holder would have to change...

what a great forum... Before I even had a chance to post a thread lookin for measurements... someone offered to measure for me.... way cool. Now I just gotta figure out a jack screw for the motor mount and I might get this thing done.

I'm not willing to give up on that bracket quite yet. I am not convinced that I will never need a dual LNB setup and that is a very nice bracket. I took it off today to discover that its all cast brass.... anodized black. It can be adjusted for either a 1.2 or 1.0 meter dish. Fantastic...

stamp on the back has the "PART NUM 3040642-02. MOLD NUM 1.0M-02".. I could be wrong but I'm thinkin that 1.0M means 1 meter. I' dont have a post here so this test will have to wait a day or so until I can go to my buddies machine shop and fabricate a light weight support bracket... But...

As you requested, Here are come pics.... the 2 LNB's are: NJR2144FX (the square one) NJR2112F (round one with dual f connectors) I saw another thread on here that says the NJR2144FX is a single polarity so I am just going to assume that they are both single polarity and are setup...

I followed an ad on Craigs list for a 36" dish for $40... When I got there it ended up being this heavy duty fiberglass dish with the brand Channel Master on it. It measures up to be 1 meter in its longest dimension. It has this big heavy duty dual LNB bracket and 2 lnb's... The whole LNB...

When you did the factory reset, did you re-enter the TP info for that bird? My box defaults to some ancient TP list on a restore and I have to reprogram everything with Channel Master. 61.5 only has that one TP... try switching to 58. I am at 111 and I can get channels on 58 so it might...
