Diagnostics 1.1 Diagnostic Data Diagnostic Data screens are developed by Firmware during implementation according to the needs of the system. All values update as required unless otherwise noted. Information about these screens is described here for documentation purposes only. Hexadecimal numbers are displayed with none or more leading zeros (0) to pad to their individual field width. Decimal numbers are right-justified in their individual display rectangle and are not padded with leading zeros (0). In addition, decimal numbers may be displayed without or with a trailing decimal point to distinguish them from hexadecimal numbers. The default is no trailing decimal point. The display of the trailing decimal point (.) is enabled and disabled by the press of the ENTER key when no digit keys have been previously pressed. This setting is retained when the screen is exited. The ENTER key is used after one or two digit key presses to terminate direct channel entry and tune to the specified channel. Note that three digits will self-terminate and tune to the specified channel. Channel number is always displayed in decimal format and will never have a trailing decimal point. Certain features are Not Yet Implemented for this release. These items are marked with NYI. 1.1.1 Tagging Screens with Help Key All the diagnostic screens (except Minimal Diagnostic) can be tagged. To tag a screen, navigate to the screen and press the HELP key on the remote (bottom left). An asterisk will appear to the right of the Diagnostic title. From any other screen the HELP key will then yank to the tagged diagnostic screen. To clear the tag, press the HELP key while the tagged screen is up (on any other screen, press the HELP key twice). This will also yank to the normal Help Screen. The GOBACK key can be used to return quickly to the previously tagged diagnostic screen. The help tag is also cleared by an IRD reset. 1.1.2 Products with GUI For products with GUI, keys work in the following manner: The LEFT & RIGHT keys, from either the front panel or remote, will change to the previous or next screen respectively. The last screen wraps to the first and the first wraps to the last. GO_BACK will exit the diagnostic screen to the menu from which it was called. Channel changes take place upon entry of the CHANNEL_UP, CHANNEL_DOWN and LAST_CHANNEL keys as well as direct channel entry via the DIGIT keys. The UP and DOWN keys, from either the front panel or remote, are used by each screen. This usage is explained in each screen section. Each of the diagnostic routines uses the BUY & INFO keys for a particular purpose. This function is explained in each screen section. 1.1.3 Products without GUI For products without GUI, keys work in the following manner: The arrow keys, in conjunction with the front panel menus, are used to display, remove and scroll the Diagnostic screens. 1.2 Diagnostic Screen A The UP and DOWN keys, from either the front panel or remote, are used to access the engineering version text string on line one. See the table below for details. Once the sequence is entered and the engineering version is displayed, further presses of UP or DOWN key will toggle between the standard and engineering text strings. Both the BUY & INFO keys will zero the message counters as well as clear both the audio and video mute counters. GUI-less products have a front panel menu to perform this function. The Instantaneous Signal Quality is compared against this value in the calculation of Time Above Signal Threshold. Initialized to 0, it can be changed via the Unit Information message. See Notes 1 and 3.Line C3Instantaneous Signal QualityInstantaneous Signal Quality (0..139). Normalized for code rate to provide a comparative measurement of signal quality. Calculated once a second from the EbNo while acquired to a signal, and fixed at 139 when not acquired.Minimum Signal QualityMinimum Signal Quality (0..139). The high water mark of the worst Instantaneous Signal Quality measurement. Signal Quality measurements based on fewer than 16 norm count samples or while not acquired to a signal are excluded from this comparison. See Note 1.Average Signal Quality Sum / Average Signal Quality Samples Once every 15 minutes the Instantaneous Signal Quality is added to a running summation (the Average Signal Quality Sum) and a sample counter (the Average Signal Quality Samples) is incremented by 1. The sample counter is 16 bits, and will wrap after 682 days unless it is cleared. The running summation is 32 bits. See Notes 1 and 2.Time Above Signal ThresholdOnce every 2 seconds the Time Above Signal Threshold is incremented if the Instantaneous Signal Quality is greater than the Signal Quality Threshold. See Notes 1, 2 and 3. The percentage of time spent with a signal outside of threshold can be approximated by dividing the Time Above Signal Threshold by the total time being measured, i.e. Time Above Signal Threshold / (sample counter * 15 minutes * 60 / 2 seconds).EbNoThe current signal to noise ratio from -3.0 through 10.9. The EbNo Count is calculated once a second from the most recent 16 norm counts. Norm count samples are collected every 50 ms when RS sync is first acquired (for the first 16 samples), and when manual tune, installer, and Diagnostic Screen C are up. Otherwise norm count samples are collected only once a second.Line C4Transport-WaveformTransport : {0 : STD_MPEG2; 1 : Other} Waveform : {00 : SC_WS_UNKNOWN; 01 : SC_NTSC; 02 : PAL_625; 03 : PAL_525; 04 : SECAM; 05 : D2_MAC; 06 : B_MAC; 07 : C_MAC; 08 : SC_DCI; 09 : SC_VIDEOCIPHER; 0A : RCA_DSS; 0B : ORION; 0C : LEITCH; : Reserved}Source ID: Service NumberSource ID :Identifies source of current VC. The only exception is a 2 second interval after every channel change, in which they stop counting and Signal Quality measurements are discarded.Note 3Signal Quality is based on error counts, making it an inverse measurement. Thus a high Signal Quality corresponds to a high error rate, and Signal Quality above threshold corresponds to signals worse than threshold. Table STYLEREF 2 \s 0 SEQ Table \* ARABIC \s 2 2. The front panel and remote UP and DOWN keys will cycle through these screens. The CHANNEL_UP and CHANNEL_DOWN keys on the remote are used to change the channel. Pressing the BUY & INFO keys on any screen where they have no defined action will clear the CCP packet message counts. It will also cause the IRD to forget all the information used for duplicate detection, both the one-minute CRC lists and the 24 hour mtv 1 table extension lists. (The error counters will only be cleared if the INFO key is pressed while the message counts by CCP screen is up, or the IRD is reset.) GUI-less products have a front panel menu to perform this function. All the message counters are decimal numbers which roll back to zero at their limits. Most of the message counters have two columns, the first for messages received and the second for messages which pass low-level filtering. All messages which pass hardware filtering are counted as messages received. To be counted in the second column messages must pass duplicate detection, language filtering, and several other firmware filters. Messages which pass low level firmware filtering are not necessarily processed by the IRD. Depending on the message type, higher level firmware can reject messages for numerous reasons. See Table 1-8 below for more detailed descriptions of the various fields on this diagnostic screen. The INFO key will flush all the IPG data pages except the foundation page. The BUY key has no effect while in this screen. REF _Ref426781429 \h Figure 01 through REF _Ref429562076 \h Figure 03 show the layouts for Diagnostic Screen F.
